Background
I qualified as a medical practitioner after training at the Middlesex Hospital, University of London, obtaining the degrees MB and BS. I went on to train in obstetrics and gynaecology after spending some time as a general surgeon and obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1983.

I then moved to into obstetrics and gynaecology, where I became a specialist, and have practised for more than 30 years. I became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1986 (MRCOG) and a Fellow in 1993 (FRCOG).

I particularly specialise in gynaecological surgery, and am very interested in the prevention and treatment of all types of gynaecological cancer. I wrote an MD thesis on the prevention of cervical cancer (adenocarcinoma). I have trained many young obstetricians, as well as medical students and nurse practitioners in various aspects of my specialty. I am accredited as a colposcopist and trainer by the Briitsh Society for Colposcopy and cervical pathology.

Current post
After completing my training in 1992, I was appointed to my current post of Consultant in Obstetrics and Gyanecology in Swindon, initially at the Princess Margaret Hospital, which has since transformed into the Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust.

This hospital has a catchment population of approximately 350,000, and our unit delivers 4,500 babies annually. I also practise privately at the Ridgeway Hospital, Wroughton, and the Shallbourne suite, at the Great Western Hospital.
